Our Story
Sycamore Springs Park opened to the public in 1997. It is a free public park operated by the Clayton Roberson Family Foundation.
The Clayton Roberson Family Foundation received 135 acres of land as a donation from Mr. and Mrs. James Dial. Mrs. Dial is a daughter of Clayton Roberson and grew up on the farm. The foundation used this land to create Sycamore Springs Park (named after the trees and springs), opening in 1997. Over time, it has expanded by 115 acres. Future expansion of acreage is planned.
Everything is free except camping and the use of the wedding chapel. Camping reservations are made and paid for online. If you do not use credit cards, please call to see how to make a reservation and to pay an alternate way. All campers without reservations must call 812-338-3846 before setting up or see the camp attendant if there is no answer at the phone number.
The park now includes 10 shelter houses, two large restrooms/shower buildings, numerous playgrounds and equipment, picnic tables, four fishing ponds, softball field, basketball court, wedding chapel, 35 tent camping sites (some with and some without electricity) and 62 RV camping sites. Reservations are required for camping and can be made online. Some of the shelter houses can be reserved online but for others please call 812-338-3846. Non reserved shelter houses are free to use when available.
Our Park
The park offers fishing, hiking, and picnicking free of charge to the community and is open from April 1 to November 1 from 8 am to 8:30 pm EDT. Overnight camping (both RV and tent) is available with a small charge.
Our Values
We work hard to offer a family-friendly park that allows people to enjoy a quiet night in the country! Because of that, we lock our gates at 8:30 pm and ask all guests not staying overnight leave before that time.
Our Rules
We are a family park and do not permit alcohol or guns of any kind (including BB guns) in our park. We also do not allow ATVs in the park, however, golf carts are permitted for licensed drivers and the handicapped. Please supervise your children at all times and pick up after your pets which must be leashed while in the park.
